Phillip Baron was one of the original creative forces behind Teddy Ruxpin, voicing the title character in the original toy line and later voicing both Teddy and his father, Burl Ruxpin, in The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin animated television series. Beyond performance, Phillip helped shape the heart of the property by writing many of the original books and songs that defined Teddy’s voice, tone, and emotional resonance for a generation of children.
His career spans decades across voice acting, puppeteering, music composition, songwriting, and storytelling. In addition to his work on Teddy Ruxpin, Phillip voiced Piglet and Robert Rabbit in Disney’s Welcome to Pooh Corner, created and performed characters for The Adventures of Timmy the Tooth, wrote songs for Sesame Street, and served as a puppeteer on Muppets Tonight. He has also had a successful music career, including work with Disney children’s titles and as part of the comedy/music duo Willio and Phillio, as well as executive experience at Rhino Records.
Phillip brings a rare combination of legacy authenticity and creative versatility. His firsthand understanding of Teddy Ruxpin’s origins—its emotional tone, narrative voice, and musical identity—could be an invaluable resource to a modern reimagining, whether through voice performance, creative consultation, story development, music, or special cameo participation.
As audiences increasingly value authenticity and meaningful connections to beloved properties, Phillip’s involvement offers a unique opportunity to honor the legacy of Teddy Ruxpin while supporting its evolution for a new generation.
